Detox: Feeling Worse Instead of Better? It’s a Healing Crisis…

Posted on February 15, 2017 By In Cleanse With 1 comment

So.  You’ve started your detox and now you’re feeling worse instead of better. Maybe you had a few days of feeling absolutely amazing!  (Or not). And now it feels like you’re coming down with the flu.  Aching, headache, fatigued, brain foggy and just plain ‘blech’.  Fantastic!  That means you’re actually going through a healing crisis! And believe it or not…this is good news!  Here’s why..

As you start eliminating toxins from your body, in order for your damaged tissues and cells to repair many people experience what’s called a ‘healing crisis’.

A healing crisis is actually very common and it means that you will experience symptoms that make you feel worse – before you feel better.

The worse you feel means that the higher number of infectious organisms are being killed off.  In other words, the more severe the side effects means that infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria and fungus are being destroyed.

It is also known as the Jarish-Herxheimer Reaction and has to do with ridding your body of endotoxins and is an immune response.  And it’s actually a good thing! (Although at the time, it might not feel it!).

Symptoms of a Healing Crisis

  • Fever
  • Hot/Cold flashes
  • Flushing
  • Headaches
  • Muscle pain
  • Chills
  • Low blood pressure
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • Feeling under the weather and not ‘quite right’
  • Nightmares and sleep issues
  • Skin eruptions (acne, boils, flare ups with eczema/psoriasis & rashes)
  • Body odour
  • Bad breath
  • Anger
  • Emotional – depression and anxiety, crying
  • Gas
  • Bloating

Your Healing Crisis = Improved Health

Although at the time your increased suffering might not feel great, the end result is actually going to be an improvement of your health.

If you are going through these issues, chances are you are afflicted with an illness (or several) – which may not have even become physically evident to you (yet).

It is a signal that your body was in dire need of a cleanse and that it is imperative for you to carry out several times a year. (In other words, once is not enough!).

We also recommend that beyond your cleanse that you look at products such as Time – which is made up of 10 highly potent medicinal mushrooms, in order to continue on your journey to good health, after your cleanse with Te Divina Cleansing Tea.

Lastly, remind yourself that these symptoms are not going to last forever and are actually a sign that your body is detoxifying!  It’s kicking out the nasty pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungus, metals, parasites and more…), which in turn actually lead to serious disease.

Feeling like crap is a good thing!  It means your cleanse is working!

Go here for my 6 Tips to Reduce Healing Crisis Symptoms During a Cleanse.

And if you haven’t started your cleanse yet, I cannot highly recommend enough having some of these products, such as the dry skin brush, apple cider vinegar and Epsom salt available…!

The End (is Just the Beginning…!)

You may go through days of feeling low, then energised, then another onslaught of symptoms.

Keep going!  This is evidence your cleanse is working!

In conclusion, feeling yucky during your cleanse is a sign of your body kicking the pathogens out.  Depending on what you’re dealing with in regards to illnesses (which may or may not have made their presence known), your experience can be mild to fairly severe.

Try to not take medications when you are struggling – as ultimately, they are part of the issue in regards to being toxic in most cases!

Know that this will be generally quite short lived – but the more you are dealing with, the more severe it can be. The best thing to do is follow some of our tips to reduce these symptoms.
